Treatment for deep-rooted decay and infection

The nerve infection that creates the need for root canal treatment can occur due to tooth decay, trauma or a crack in the tooth. If the infection is left untreated, it can cause severe pain. It can also spread to the rest of your teeth and gums in severe cases.

Benefits of Root Canal Treatment

  • It can save a tooth that would otherwise need to be extracted.
  • Relieves pain and discomfort caused by the infected tooth.
  • Prevents the spread of infection to other teeth and surrounding tissues.
  • Reduces the risk of complications.
  • You can eat more comfortably afterwards.
  • Root canal treatment should improve your overall oral health.

Our treatment process

1. Your Consultation

Our dentist will conduct a thorough examination of the affected tooth to assess the extent of the damage. They’ll explain the root canal procedure in detail, including the steps involved and the expected duration, as well as any other questions you may have.

2. Your Treatment

Once our ‘Enjoyable Dentistry Technique™’ has taken effect, and you feel calm and comfortable, our dentist will create a small access hole in the affected tooth to reach the pulp chamber. The infected or damaged pulp is then carefully removed, and the root canals disinfected.

3. Aftercare

Please follow the aftercare guidance that our dentist will provide. We want your mouth to heal safely, and with minimum discomfort.

  • Root canal treatment is a dental procedure that is performed to save a severely damaged or infected tooth. It involves removing the pulp, which is the soft tissue inside the tooth, and cleaning and sealing the affected area.

  • It involves removing the infected pulp from the tooth’s root canal, cleaning and disinfecting the area, and then filling and sealing the canal to prevent further infection.

  • If you are experiencing severe tooth pain or sensitivity, please book a consultation with us. We’ll examine your teeth and gums to determine if you require root canal treatment. If you are experiencing persistent and intense pain, especially when biting down or applying pressure to the affected tooth, it may indicate the need for root canal treatment. Extreme tooth sensitivity can also be a sign.

  • Most patients can expect the initial healing process to take about a week or two. Complete healing may take several weeks or even months.

  • We appreciate that the root canal procedure might seem daunting and unpleasant, we can assure our patients that with the Care Dental Group, they will enjoy a comfortable and pain free experience; thanks to our Enjoyable Dentistry Technique™.

  • After undergoing root canal treatment, the appearance of your tooth may vary depending on the severity of the damage prior to the procedure. It’s possible that a tooth may appear slightly discoloured compared to the surrounding teeth. This is because the nerve and blood supply to the tooth have been removed during the root canal, which can affect the natural colour of the tooth. Teeth whitening treatment can restore the natural colour of the tooth and ensure a seamless appearance.

  • Firstly, the infection or decay in the affected tooth will continue to progress, leading to worsening pain and discomfort. As the infection spreads, it can also affect the surrounding teeth and gums, potentially leading to further dental issues. Additionally, without proper treatment, the infected tooth may eventually become loose or even fall out, resulting in a gap in your smile.

  • “My experience at Care Dental has exceeded my expectations tenfold. It was my first time at a dentist for some time and I immediately felt at ease. My teeth have been absolutely transformed in the past few weeks which is solely down to the credit of Dr Mahir and his team. I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for dental treatment.”

  • “I am an anxious patient and had a filling today with Dr Rubina and cannot believe my experience. I have never felt as relaxed as I did today, Dr Rubina is lovely, she is very reassuring and I did not feel a thing. I felt like I had only been in there 5 mins not 45 mins. I have been to care dental a few times and will never go anywhere else now. The reception staff are also great, I always get called the day before my appointment and they put me at ease whilst in the waiting room. It’s a truly 5 star experience. Thank you.”
