Our treatment process

1. Your Consultation

You’ll be asked about your symptoms and any recent dental issues or accidents that may have caused the emergency. A thorough examination of the affected area will then be performed to determine the extent of the problem. After evaluating the situation, our dentist will discuss the findings with you and recommend appropriate treatment options.

2. Your Treatment

Common emergency dental treatments include tooth extraction, root canal therapy, and the emergency repair of broken or chipped teeth. Our dentist will work efficiently to alleviate pain and discomfort, restore oral health, and provide necessary instructions for aftercare.

3. Aftercare

After emergency dental treatment, you will receive aftercare advice. To ensure optimal healing and to minimise any potential complications, it’s crucial that you stick to it. This will enable you to recover more quickly and experience a better dental outcome.

  • You have two ways to reach us. Book online at any time of day or night through our booking system, or call the practice on 0208 846 8534 during opening hours. We’re open six days a week, so you rarely have to wait long to be seen.

    When you call, it helps to have a quick description of the problem ready: when the pain or issue started, and whether there’s any swelling or bleeding. That lets us judge how urgently you need to be seen and book you into the right slot. If you’re in a lot of pain, say so. We’ll always try to fit urgent cases in as soon as we can.

  • We run a limited out-of-hours service on Saturdays for urgent problems that can’t wait until Monday. Saturday slots fill quickly, so it’s worth calling first thing on 0208 846 8534, or booking online as early as you can.

    If a dental emergency happens on a Sunday or outside our opening hours, don’t sit it out in pain. Call us and follow the instructions, or phone NHS 111, which can point you to urgent dental care in the area. For anything involving heavy bleeding that won’t stop, facial swelling spreading towards your eye or throat, or difficulty breathing or swallowing, treat it as a medical emergency and go to A&E.

  • Yes. We keep time set aside each day for emergencies, so we can see most urgent problems the same day you call. Ring early if you can, as morning calls give us the best chance of finding you a slot that suits you.

    Some problems are genuinely time-sensitive. A knocked-out adult tooth, for example, has the best chance of being saved when it’s treated within the hour, so call straight away rather than waiting to see if it settles. Even when something isn’t an emergency in the strict sense, we’d far rather you rang and let us reassure you than sat at home worrying.

  • We can. On weekdays, we’re able to stay open until 8pm when an emergency needs it, which helps if you can’t get away from work or childcare during the day. Evening slots are limited and offered as needed, so please call ahead rather than turning up, and we’ll tell you the earliest time we can see you.

  • We’ll be able to make an assessment over the phone of whether or not you require an emergency appointment but here are a few issues that cause emergency dental problems:

    – Toothaches
    – Dental injury that requires immediate extraction
    – Swelling and discomfort caused by wisdom teeth
    – Dental infections
    – Tooth chips and cracks
    – Broken fillings
    – Lost or missing crowns
    – Injury caused by orthodontic devices
    – Dislodged or loosened teeth after facial trauma
