Our treatment process

1. Your Consultation

The consultation will begin with a discussion about your goals and concerns regarding your smile. Our orthodontist will then examine your teeth and jaw, with a view to creating a personalised treatment plan.

2. Your Treatment

A series of custom-made Invisalign aligner trays will be created for you. The trays are worn for approximately 2 weeks before being replaced with the next set in the series. Regular check-ups with our orthodontist are scheduled to monitor progress.

3. Aftercare

We’ll advise you on how to maintain proper hygiene, how to clean your aligner trays, and when to attend check-up appointments.

Before & After Results - Clear Aligners

FAQs

  • Invisalign Aligners apply gentle pressure on specific teeth, gradually moving them into a more aligned position. Each set of aligners is worn for about 2 weeks before you receive your next set. Over time, the aligners gradually shift the teeth until they reach the desired alignment. They are also virtually invisible, making them a popular choice for adults and teenagers who are self-conscious about wearing traditional braces.

  • Invisalign aligners suit a wide range of people who want to straighten their teeth without fixed metal braces. They work particularly well for crowded or overlapping teeth, gaps and spacing, and many common bite and alignment problems. They’re a popular choice for adults, including people whose teeth have drifted back over the years after having braces as a teenager.

The only way to know for certain is to look at your teeth. At your consultation, we take a digital scan and can often show you a preview of how your teeth could move and what the finished result might look like, so you can decide with a clear picture of what’s realistic for you.

  • Our orthodontist will firstly need to determine that Invisalign Aligners is the right treatment option for you. A customised treatment plan will be created using 3D imaging technology. This plan outlines the movement of the teeth throughout the treatment process. Once the plan is finalised, a series of clear aligners will be created specifically for you. Each set of aligners will be worn for about 2 weeks. Regular check-ups will be scheduled to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments.

  • It varies from person to person, mostly depending on how far your teeth need to move. Most treatments fall somewhere between six months and two years. Simpler cases, like mild crowding or a small gap, are often finished within around nine to twelve months, while more involved cases take longer. How consistently you wear your aligners makes a real difference to staying on schedule.

Along the way, you’ll come in for short reviews so we can check your teeth are tracking to plan and hand over your next sets of aligners.

It’s worth knowing that straightening your teeth is only half the job. Once they’re in their new position, you’ll wear retainers to hold them there. Teeth have a natural tendency to drift back over time, so retainers, usually worn at night, are what protect the result for the long term. We’ll explain exactly what your retention plan looks like as you near the end of treatment.

  • You’ll need to wear your aligners for at least twenty to twenty-two hours a day. That sounds like a lot, but in practice it means they’re in almost all the time, and you only take them out to eat, to drink anything other than water, and to brush and clean your teeth.

The reason for the long wear time is that aligners work by applying gentle, steady pressure to guide your teeth into position. That pressure needs to be almost constant to keep things moving on schedule, which is why the hours really do count. Most people find that after the first week or so it becomes second nature, and the simplest habit to build is popping them straight back in as soon as you’ve finished eating or cleaning your teeth.

  • The main risk is that your treatment slows down or drifts off course. Aligners are planned as a precise sequence, with each set moving your teeth a small, specific amount. If they aren’t worn for long enough, your teeth don’t keep up with the plan, and the next aligner in the series may no longer fit properly. Dentists call this losing tracking.

When that happens, you might need to stay on your current aligner longer, step back to an earlier one, or have a new set made to get things back on plan, all of which can add time, and sometimes cost, to your treatment.

  • Yes. We offer 0% finance on all our aligner treatments, including brands such as Invisalign, so you can spread the cost over manageable monthly payments rather than paying it all upfront. It’s a straightforward way to fit treatment around your budget, subject to status.

After your consultation and scan, we’ll give you a clear, itemised price for your specific treatment, and our team can walk you through the finance options and what your monthly payments would be, so there are no surprises. You can find out more on our finance options page.

He talked me through everything that he was doing and made sure I felt as relaxed as possible. Everything was explained really well including the work that I will have to get done. Highly recommended practice.”
